Campaign Story

Hi! For those of you that may have come across this page, we are the Hixes! My name is Cynthia and my husbands name is Jay. We have a four year old Husky. It has been an absolute dream of ours to be parents.

We are trying to raise money for the overwhelming and financially straining cost of IVF. Our insurance does not cover fertility treatment. We are self pay.

Jay and I started to try for a baby two years ago. July of this year, we sought out a fertility doctor to get checked. The results from my blood work was low AMH.  Which was to be expected for my age.  Jays results were good. We are 40 and went to high school together.  I had all the necessary tests- saline infused sonohysterogram, which was abnormal. They could not confirm nor deny if it was a polyp, shadow or air bubble from the saline. Our fertility doctor suggested I have a hysteroscopy. We were given the choice to start IVF in September or have hysteroscopy first.  I opted for IVF first. So, on September 13th, I was given the go ahead to start my stims! Then on September 24th was my egg retrieval. All 4 eggs were retrieved. 3 were mature and all showed signs of fertilization. We got reports from the lab. Only one embryo made it to blast and was able to be frozen and sent off for PGTA testing.

On Monday October 10th, I got the call. Our embryo was abnormal and missing chromosome 6. I cried for days. It was a girl. I never even got the chance for an embryo transfer. I had my hysteroscopy on October 28th. My fertility doctor removed a polyp.

Our next steps are to try IUI.  We have exhausted all of our personal resources for another round of IVF.

While we understand that not everyone can donate or will want to, if you could please share our link so that others may see our story. You never know what just one share may start.  Thank you for taking the time to read our story!
